  Infiltrate/ phlegmon of the wrist
#1

An 11-month-old child was referred for ultrasound of soft tissues after consulting a surgeon and an orthopedist about swelling of the wrist.

In the projection of complaints about edema of the wrist on ultrasound, a thickening of the soft tissues of the wrist dorsum is visualized with the involvement of the tendons located in the indicated projection, with anechoic areas, in the thickness of the indicated infiltrate, an anechoic rounded inclusion up to 10x5 mm is visualized, with a hyperechoic inclusion in the center, giving a twinkling artifact on the CFM (differential diagnosis: foreign body, etc.)
