A teenager complaining of a painful mass in the elbow bend area was admitted to the ED of the Children's City Clinical Hospital and was urgently referred for an ultrasound scan of the upper extremities (UE) veins. During the survey, a week ago there was a blood test from a vein, after which a swelling appeared at the site of the blood test, which then decreased and a dense cord appeared in its place.
Visually, along the medial surface of the shoulder from the elbow bend and proximally, a blue strand several cm long, similar to varicose veins, is visible.
At ultrasound in the area of the elbow bend subcutaneously visualizes a tubular structure of about 4 cm long not compressed by the probe (compression test), pronouncedly painful under pressure, contacts with compressible venous vessels in the area of the elbow bend and the medial surface of the shoulder - thrombosis of the v . median cubital.
