A 10-year-old child with the penetrating wound of the anterior submandibular region (below the chin), was admitted to the ED of the Children's City Clinical Hospital and was urgently sent for ultrasound.
On ultrasound, an area of increased echogenicity of the subcutaneous fat with anechoic lesions near the muscle is noted, as well as a change in the structure of the muscle area adjacent to this area (presumably, the anterior belly of the digastric muscle, m.digastricus), which is clearly seen when compared with the contralateral side.
