    A newborn with suspected duodenal atresia is referred for an ultrasound scan.

    On ultrasound in the left epigastric region there are an empty loops of the small intestine, centrally in the projection of the duodenum there is a blind-ending extended loop of the intestine, with pendulum-like peristalsis periodically occurring.

    Un recién nacido en el Departamento de Patología Neonatal del Hospital Clínico Infantil con sospecha de atresia duodenal es remitido para una ecografía.

    En la ecografía, la región epigástrica izquierda contiene asas vacías del intestino delgado, en el centro de la proyección del duodeno, se visualiza un asa extendida del intestino con terminación ciega, con peristalsis en forma de péndulo que se produce periódicamente.
