    A patient of retirement age came for a follow-up abdominal ultrasound in the public clinic.

    Ultrasound imaging shows hypoechoic in relation to the rest of the liver caudate lobe (I segment) .

    Segments 1 and 4 are typical sites of focal fatty sparing zones free of steatosis (fatty degeneration) of the liver, as was already shown in another example with a square lobe (IV segment) published here earlier.
